DOELAP Revising Administration and Personnel External Dosimetry Technical Standards

DOELAP is in the process of revising its Technical Standard on Administration (DOE-STD-1111-98) and Personnel Dosimetry Systems (DOE-STD-1095-95) to update them and bring them into conformance with ISO/IEC 17011-2004, Conformity assessment - General requirements for accreditation bodies accrediting conformity assessment bodies, and ISO/IEC 17025-2005, General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories. DOE-STD-1095-95 will be updated to include aspects of the current ANSI/HPS N13.11-2001, American National Standard, Personnel Dosimetry Performance - Criteria for Testing, with DOE-specific modifications, and also to include ANSI/HPS N13.32-1995, American National Standard, Performance Testing of Extremity Dosimeters. Once the draft standards have completed an internal peer review process, they will be formally processed through the DOE Technical Standards Program for formal comment. It is anticipated that the standards will be available for general review and comment by the end of the calendar year.

DOELAP Informational Notice - Configuration of DOELAP Dosimeters

DOELAP has issued an Informational Notice to clarify the intent of the original Advisory on the configuration of DOELAP Dosimeters. The clarification is intended to assist sites in evaluating their use of dosimeters and in determining what configurations need to be performance tested and which are considered to be "field use" of accredited dosimeters.

DOELAP Radiobioassay Oversight Board Meeting

The Radiobioassay Oversight Board met July 31 - August 1 in Idaho Falls, ID. The Board reviewed and made recommendations on ANL, BNL, LANL, NTS, SNL, and SRS for in-vitro, and BNL, LANL, SNL, and WIPP for in-vivo. Certificates should be distributed in the Aug-Sept timeframe.

Personnel Dosimetry, Test Session 2006-B

Test session 2006-B is scheduled to begin August 10 with on-site assessments scheduled for the Jan-Mar timeframe.
